Good morning all,

The group last week wanted more events, so with this last posting the summer gatherings are complete!

The Dallas Museum of the American Railroad (http://www.museumoftheamericanrailroad.org/) will open their doors a bit early this July 2nd morning to allow our big cameras in for some peaceful photography. Once the doors open at 10, we will still be able to take our time to take photos, but there might be foot traffic between you and your object!

The museum is located at Gate 3 in Fair Park. We can begin entering the premises at 9AM. I would recommend a scouting trip between now and July 2 to get a feel of what you want to shoot. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 until 4.

A couple of household issues:

1. Everyone will need to sign a standard waiver stating that the photos will not be used for commercial purposes.

2. There is a $7 admission fee. Since they are opening the doors a bit early and have additional costs involved with this, I am asking you to make an additional contribution to the museum. This can be any amount you feel comfortable with; it is just a friendly gesture of thanks to the museum.

Please sign up by adding your response to this thread.

See you on July 2.

Additional outings:

July 30 to Pilot Point (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=76413)

August 20 to Ty Guilory’s Mineola ranch (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=76510).

Great news Michael!!! I am always interested in steam locomotives and they have two . . .

Union Pacific Steam "Big Boy" 4018, a 1941 ALCO 4-8-8-4 (http://www.museumoftheamericanrailroad.org/Exhibits/OurCollection/tabid/62/agentType/View/PropertyID/18/Default.aspx)

St. Louis - San Francisco Railway Company ("Frisco") 4501, a 1942 Baldwin 4-8-4 (http://www.museumoftheamericanrailroad.org/Exhibits/OurCollection/tabid/62/agentType/View/PropertyID/17/Default.aspx)

Looking forward to this one!

The Museum of the American Railroad will break ground, on May 31 st, for it's new location just south of the square, here in Frisco, TX.

Construction will include a new railroad spur off of the main track near by.

Once construction for the new facility is completed, the museum will probably be moving to Frisco, from Fair Park, sometime next year.

It sounds like a trip to the Frisco location will be in a couple of years. . .it's going to take a while to move all of those trains!!!

Michael - thanks for arranging the trip on July 2nd. I'm looking forward to it. I love trains!!!

Susan,

I wasn't implying that the group should put off the shoot until the museum moves to Frisco.

I was merely trying to point out that this could be the last opportunity to photograph the Museum of the American Railroad at Fair Park before it moves to Frisco.

Eugene, I really like to keep the announcement threads focused on members signing up for photo opportunities. If you are coming, please sign up, if not - say so, but please leave further ancillary comments to other threads. Much appreciated.

Okay Michael,

I get the message loud and clear.

You're on your own. I'll stop bumping your threads.

Scott and I were the founding members of the DFW LF group (Bob joined us later, and Glenn joined in after Scott moved to Oregon). You came along much later.

Although I am no longer physically capable of joining in, I feel that I have a vested interest in seeing to it that this group succeeds.

I am only trying to help out. Obviously, you don't need my help.

I'm voting with Dr. Singer on this. This forum should be anything goes, within reason, and providing we avoid politics and religion...

Thank you Michael, Please include me on the sign up list for the July 2 visit to the Rail Museum at Fair Park. Hopefully i will have my Bender 8x10 finished by then and will be able to use it at that visit.

By the way, I would like to say thank you to everyone i met at the TCC get-together last Saturday. I am a new member to the group and i really enjoyed meeting everyone. It met my expectations of being a group i would like to be associated with. Everyone was friendly and approachable and seemed willing to share knowledge and experience. I am looking forward to a very rewarding association. Thank you, Mark....

Adairs has been around for a long time and has a great rustic(?) ambience.

I will post directions when this is finalized.

Good morning all, just bumping this thread.

If I count right from the posts and private messages, it looks like about 10 of us will be at Fair Park on Saturday monring.

Looking forward to holding a LF camera again after lugging around some 50 pounds of digital equipment for the past month!

See y'all on Saturday.
