There's still color negative 220 being sold. B&H seems to be waiting for the new Portra in 220, and Fuji is in stock.

The paper backing is different and the machine required to finish the film - attach the backing, spool and package - is different.

This lack of demand is what killed it, although: it is somewhat curious that the color negative is still available (maybe it's old stock), but no B&W 220 can be found anywhere. Too bad. I do have a stash of Kodak TX320 in the freezer.

The answer is yes, except that there is a paper leader and trailer and raw stock in between. The film is officially 64.75 inches.

220 has a thinner base = less dispersion = sharper images.

Kodak 120 and 220 films are coated on the same 3.9 mil acetate base.
