I was just gifted with one of these, instructions and CD included. Has anyone here used one of these to scan 4x5 film? Or what did you find it useful for?

The specs suggest a maximum film size of medium format, not 4x5. Trying to adapt it to 4x5 film sounds impractical. I've uses an Epson 2450 with its light source for 4x5 for 8 years. These might be affordable now, with newer and better inexpensive flatbeds available.

I use an ancient Epson 1680. Scans 4 sheets of 4x5 at a time. Newer models only do 2.
I have friends with medium format scanners who scan 4x5 in sections and stitch.

I did scan 4x5 and 9x12cm film on mine, before I got the V700.

You can't do it in one pass, so a made up a mask and guide from thick black card stock. Place the film in the guide, scan one half, then slide it over, scan the other half. Since the overlap is quite substantial, the two scans stitch really easily in PS. Just make sure you lock the exposure for both scans.
