Hi Folks

My old faithful press is in need of a tune up, I am looking for a supplier of bushings for the handles that allow the platen to press down and lift up.

I am pretty sure Seal will not have these parts so wondering if anyone here has refurbished one of these workhorses and where they got the parts.
Seal Masterpiece 500 T-X 26 x34 inch model
any info is appreciated, blankets, new parts for the timer and heater.

thanks
Bob

Seal was bought out and their presses now have the 'Bienfang' brand name. IIRC their website is a bit complex but it's worth a few minutes to see if they can help.

When my Seal 210 press needed a new switch I found parts at FramersIsland.com

In this part of the world, framing wholesalers carry parts for the older Seal presses.

Thanks all

I think I may have the bushings made locally and presently this looks like my best option.

Do you know the dimensions (accurately)?

Bushings are readily available from industrial suppliers, probably cheaper than from Seal and MUCH cheaper than having them custom made.

Where are you located?

A bearing supply house typically has a variety of bushings.

The "official" parts manufacturer is here in Salt Lake City. You need to go through Beinfang to get part numbers and contact info. But at the prices they ask, it would probably be better to go to a local machine shop and have the hardware done for you.

I have also found a couple things out about the presses through my discussions with Bienfang, who, by the way, are pretty good to deal with.

If the red light is flickering for example on the power display telling you the head demand is on, it may mean the contact of the thermostat on the board is dirty. Usually removing the contact from the board and replacing it will improve the contact and the press will heat much quicker and maintain the heat better.
