I'm a photographer in central PA; I now work for Penn State as a videographer, which is pushing me more towards spending photo time "in the real world." I have some experience shooting wet plate, I generally shoot medium format film when I'm shooting film, and I've built a couple of cameras.

Wide-angle pinhole 4x5 (http://www.codexphoto.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Punctum.jpg)

Wet-plate camera (http://www.codexphoto.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/lens-3.jpg)

I have a closet full of strange old lenses and a few shutters, and am hoping to start working in larger formats.

Hello everyone! :D

Welcome. Nice looking wet plate cam. What is the wood with the mottled appearance?

What is the wood with the mottled appearance?

I believe it's leopardwood (http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics/leopard.htm), but there seems to be a lack of consensus on what to call it. The orange and purple woods are padauk of various ages, the recessed part of the lensboard is maple, the corners on the standards are yellow heart. I got all of my wood from a folk instrument maker (his scrap pile is amazing!).

Welcome from a former Chambersburgian (now Washingtonian).
