I'm wondering if there is any difference in performance between 120 and 220 roll film holders, such as the 6x9 Horseman for 4x5. Also, the pros and cons between the two. Does anyone have any hands-on experience with a 220 rollfilm holder?

Thanks, Edie Rothman

I have no first hand experience with Horseman but I have a Wista 120 6x9. I find it very good. I use also a Calumet 6x12 that takes both but is not flat enough with 120 (along with other problems) and a Sinar Vario very good with both. The 220 films are said to be flatter, but the m ain worry with 220 films is to find a service that is able to developp them properly. I have had ma ny 220 films spoiled by laborators.

I've heard the opposite, that 120 film is flatter than 220, though I've never seen any conclusive evidence. Two factors that are in favor of 120 is that there are more emulsions available and the paper backing helps protect the film from light leaks when loading/unloading outdoors.
