View Full Version : new Tmax 400 filter questions

I'm using the latest version of Tmax 400 in 120 format. I've read that this film has slightly more blue sensitivity than older style traditional emulsions.

I understand the basics of how filters are supposed to work, but I have no real experience with filters for what I'm currently doing, which is shooting portraits of people in the landscape, both at close range and with the landscape predominate. I'm talking rural portraits, not urban. I'm also working at the beach and at a lake, with people swimming.

I'm wondering if a medium yellow or yellow-green filter (or any other filter) will have any positive impact. I've read through the major filter manufacturer's information, which wasn't very helpful. Anyone have any practical experience with this sort of work?

Thanks! Arne

A medium yellow is nice to leave on all/most of the time if you can.

A green tint supposedly makes faces less smooth because any non-green blemishes will be darker.
