For those of you that follow the annual trek, the first hikers have crossed Forester and have reached the Kearsarge Pass area:

Last year only a handful were getting thru the whole way even at the end of June, and
virtually postholing all the passes. Very messy and soggy, and this year the snow is
even deeper! The one convenient thing about the JMT/PCT is that there are bridges
over most of the serious crossings. But for those of us who prefer something other than the "freeway" stream crossings are very hazardous right now. I'm not even going
up for a couple more weeks, and will pick any route carefully to avoid crossing anything serious.
