I'm seeking information regarding a MEYER-GORLITZ DOPPEL ANASTIGMAT HELIOPAN in 5x7 format.I have the opportunity to buy one. It's about 100 years old and was mounted on a SENECA 5x7 so I'm assuming it's 7 1/2 to 8 in.I would like to use it on my SEROCO 5x7 also about 100 years old.Is it a quality lens assuming clean glass, etc.?

I assume its "Helioplan", not "Heliopan" which is a current manufacturer of filters in Germany. The Helioplan was Meyers version of the dialyte construction (4 single lens elements arranged symmetrically around the stop) like the Goerz Celor or the Steinheil Unofocal. Meyer was a company making high quality lenses, and since its a dialyte there should not be any issues with element separation due to its age.
