I am taking a trip in a few months. I plan to take 100-150 sheets of 8x10 TMY2 which comes 10 sheets to a box.

The total volume/size of 15 boxes of TMY2 is my problem. Has anyone tried re-boxing them? If so, in what sort of box? It is expensive film but I wish it were available in a 50 sheet box.

yes, reboxing works fine in old 50 sheet sized boxes or paper boxes with black plastic sleeve.

I suppose I could put multiple 10 sheet paper envelopes inside a black plastic paper envelope inside the 100 sheet paper box. I just don't want to risk fogging all that film. I don't have any larger film boxes.

I put two 10 sheet envelopes in one 10 sheet box thereby reducing 50% of the boxes.
Two envelopes fits perfect in one box.

Freestyle Photo sells a black poly bag and mailer in sizes from 5X7 to 20X24 and the 8X10 version costs $.89 each. There is a $25.00 minimum order and I have used these for 4X5 with no problem. I use these to hold exposed images when shooting B&W back up images. I put the other exposed images in a used 4X5 film box and have several marked for N N-1 N-2 N-3 etc. This organizes the grouping of negatives by development time.

Just buy 75 more holders and load them all with film before you leave!

Seriously, all this talk of fussing and reboxing makes me a little concerned. Seems to me you're inviting more dust problems.

So far, I am 65 holders short and counting!

I agree about dust. I want to keep it simple. So far, I seem to find more dust in my 8x10 negatives than in 4x5.

This weekend I will try the two envelopes in one box approach to see how that works.

Now I know why there is a shortage of TMY-2! :D

The shortage seems to be 4x5, not 8x10. the 8x10 costs too much!
