I got several of the brownish-orange Ilford antistatic cloths a while back. At least a year ago. I like them and find various uses for them. As far as I can tell, they are working the same now as ever (I mainly use them to control static in and around job of film-loading, and I'm still not seeing flashes of static). Does anybody know whether these things are supposed to "last" or if you can wa sh them etc.? Thanks. -jeff buckels (albuquerque)

You do not wash Anti-Static cloths or other "treated" cloths.

After a year I have my wife sew a big X on the cloth and buy a new one. I use the X'ed clothes for general dusting aroung the darkroom and the fresh one my darkroom equipment.

An anti-static cloth is a treated cloth. And like all treated materials, it should be perserved. I suggest you keep the plastic bag it is packaged with and use it. This will insure that the cloth is always clean and extend the life of your antistatic-isy.
