I have just started shooting the 8x10 efke 25 ortho film processed using pyro pmk. The negatives look very good.

On my scanner however, the images usually are prescanned with a very blown out look. I have to do some serious level adjusting to get them to look right. Again the negatives are not remotely blown out.

It appears that the film is quite shiny and reflective on the emulsion and other side. Not like its a problem in developing, they just look shinier than other negatives.

I have used the scanner for a couple of years and know how to properly set it up. It appears that somehow there may be reflections that are decreasing the density of the scan.

Is this somehow related to ortho film or something else?

George,

I have an Emersmart Pro and have scanned many pyro stained negatives with no problem. The pyroi developed films I have scanned with the Evresmart Pro include FP4+, TMY, HP5+, and Efke PL100. I would note that I scan with the film emulsion side down, not up as I believe Scitex recommended.
