Is there any way to mount a medium format (3.25" x 4.25") polaroid back on a Deardorff 8x10 camera?

I realise it would only show a small area of the frame, but it would be a very useful and inexpensive way to check exposure on landscapes and other shots where the exposure is uniform across the frame.

What you need is an 8x10 to 4x5 reducing back with the type of 4x5 back into which your Polaroid pack? holder will fit.

Hi Robert,

Not sure what you mean ... Just to clarify: I don't want to shoot 4x5 polaroids (cost a fortune), but the medium format kind (3.25" x 4.25"). Is that what you mean? A 4x5 reducing back that can hold a medium format polaroid back?

Uri, I believe the Polaroid back you are trying to use is the 405 which gives the size of picture you mention using pack film. The 405 was designed to be used with either the Graflok or Graphic style back, but I don't remember which. Go here for some more info: http://www.graflex.org/speed-graphic/features.html#GraflokBack

What you need is a Graflock style reducing back that will allow you to use 4X5 holders
this will allow you to use a 550 polaroid pack film back that will take Fuji
instant film. A MF back will give you either 6x6 or 4.5x6 image on a 3.25 X 4.25 pack film
and imho is a waste of instant film.
