Hello:

Just for fun, we've started a Facebook group called "Red Bellows Society."

The only requirement to join the group is that you own a camera with red bellows.

It's all very informal, and membership is on the honor system. After joining, please post a picture of your camera (or better yet, you with your camera.)

So those of you with red-belows Kodak 2Ds, B&Js, Wisners, Folding Kodaks, and every other red bellows cameras are encouraged to join.

Just go to Facebook and type "Red Bellows Society" in the search engine. You'll find us.

Cordially,

William

I never thought I would have anything to do with Facebook, but the red bellows on my Wisner made me do it.

:( .... this sounds bigoted and exclusionary. :(

How about if you have a red 4x5 pinhole camera? It has interchagable focal lengths which is like a bellows. :)

I never thought I would have anything to do with Facebook, . . . .

Me either. Then my kids wanted to play on Farmtown! I joined and am now in touch with people I have not talked to in many, many years!

All my bellows are black though.

Sounds like a case of Red Bellows envy!

My Wisner 7x17 has red bellows. Never could warm up to that annoying red mass. It's just wrong and a stupid color for bellows if you ask me... Say, do you tips in your group on how to paint the thing black?

Don't sugar coat it, just tell us how you feel.

Not exclusionary! We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decision of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, but by a two-thirds majority in the case of broader matters.

We voted. Sorry, no red pinhole cameras. :(

(By the way, my pinhole camera is mostly Kodak Yellow, since it was made out of a 500-sheet Azo box!)

My 4x5 Wisner Technical Field has red bellows, and it's a... person magnet.

It's virtually guaranteed to draw onlookers and friendly inquiries.

Um, no, since we like red bellows.

You can get a replacement bellows in black from a company in England. Here is a link to their order form:

:) Mine is a Zero Image. Makes surprisingly sharp photos whenever I get a chance to go out and use it. The pic at my signature is made with my 612F (#1 of 1000). I can be snooty too. :) :)

I knew keeping the old Kodak would eventually pay big dividends! :D

Ah, Greg. Snooty, but maybe not so unusual. Most people are snooty about something, and most of them manage to keep it under wraps pretty well. (Normal is overrated.) In that department, this forum seems to be 'way above average! Like maybe 3 or 4 standard deviations above the mean?

Ok, got to ask, can 'black bellows' folks lurk? Kinda jealous of this exclusive group--bellows do rock, though!

My first view camera (after having had the use of a wonderful vintage Linhof Kardan in college) was a Newton NewVue. It had red bellows.

I have not been able to tolerate red bellows ever since.

Sure! There isn't a whole lot going on, though.

Once you have tried black, you will never go back (to red that is). :)

I have a Folding Pocket Kodak and a couple of Century Whole Plate cameras with red bellows. But I have dialup at home and wouldn't even think of doing facebook with a slow connection.

Greg, just find yourself a nice Kodak 2D or a Wisner or a B&J or a Folding Kodak and you're in! :)

:D :D :D It would seem so...

Perhaps I could slap some red paint on the bellows of my Ebony.

Have fun with your group. I belong to a group here in Toledo called the Curmudgeon League Of Toledo (CLOTs) and the ladies call themselves Curmudgeon Ladies In Toledo (I leave it to you to break it down) that are a bunch of artists and old hippies than have a lot of fun with FB.

I really like my B&J red bellows not so with the battleship grey!
