Date of lens

Is there any way to date a lens by the serial number? I have a Schneider Symmar, #11474856. I tried to contact Schneider, but I haven't heard anything yet.

From Schneider's website ... the lens was manufactured in 1970, probably in June since 11,500,000 is listed for July 1970
