I came across a relatively new Canham 8x10 wooden view camera with a Schneider APO-Symmar 240mm lens. How much used $ should this stuff be worth?

Depending on the condition of the camera and what, if any, accessories are included,

Previously owned Canham 8X10 Traditional camera --- $2,000-$2,500.

Schneider Apo-Symmar 240 lens --- $600-$675.

Of course, used equipment is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it.

IMHO used Canham cameras seem to go for remarkably low prices, frequently discounted up to 25+% compared to new and in mint condition, for the value received. Excellent cameras, and excellent service from Keith Canham should any problems become apparent. I've had nothing but good experiences with both my 5x7/4x5 and 8x10 traditional Canhams. I had not originally planned to keep the smaller camera when I got the 8x10, but cannot convince myself to give it up; they're that good (for me anyway), and do complement each other very well. Highly recommended, and not on the payroll.

Hi

I would pay up to $2500.00 @ least as the camera new is around $3500. That depends on condition. I bought mine from Jimmy @ Mid West for $2600 in mint condition. in fact the New one on the shelf (which was $3500)looked a bit more (very little) used than the used one.CRAZY MAN.
I like my K.B.Canham 8x10 wood but it really is not the most stable of all my 8x10's. It is however it is the lightest(of my 8x10 field cameras) @ around 8-9 lbs . W/ careful use, the stability should pose no real problem. just make sure the wind all vibrations have died down before pulling the trigger. The Canham Wood is a Great camera & should give you years of use.
The real selling point to me is that you can easily convert the 8x10 Canham Wood into a 7x17-8x20-or 12x20 for around $3500.00. That is my plan in the near future . The conversion 12x20 as I already have two new backs w/ my Korona 12x20 as well as two older holders that I believe are original w/ my Korona.
I hope this helps & the best of luck w/ the deal @ hand.

Peace to you
Louis P.

If you want the STRONGEST, MOST stable of any 8x10 camera made, I am considering selling my Ebony SW810.

It was bought new - used 11 times - perfect condition - original box and packing.

I also have a 4x5 reduction back for it (never used).

I paid $2500 for my used KB Canham traditional 8x10.

Don't own that lens so can't help.

Buy Robert Fishers' Ebony, he is a straight up guy and he will give you a very good price for a camera that is mostly superior to a Canham (not that the Canham is a bad camera at all).

The one transaction I had with Robert was first class. I wish I could afford his Ebony camera.
