Hi All,

I have been refering to the biggest 3 way head Linhof ever made and here it is: the 3662.

http://cid-f3f34b5b3a86b6b1.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Linhof%203662/3662-doc-web.jpg

It dwarfs the 3663 that is more known and popular and still being made.
With it's height of 15.5 cm, platforms of 90mm, dual panorama, weighing in at 1.8 kg and a max. load of 20 kg it is like 2 Sinar Pan Tilt heads and a Foba ASTIU mounted on top of each other.

If you want one the Sinar route will be yours, because Linhof had a limited production run of them in 1980 and 1981, two wer ever sold in Holland.

I got mine in 1981 out of a flooded basement of a camera store for fl. 125.- , the new price was fl. 569.- in 1980.
I restored it, put new grease in it and it has been in use on a Gitzo Studex Performance (Series 3 ) for my Sinar P2 4x5/8x10 ever since.

If Linhof would decide to make the 3662 again look at a price tag of around $ 1200 - $ 1500.-
Used they are very, very rare.

AND NO, MY LINHOF 3662 IS NOT FOR SALE !

Th 3rd axis allows only 10° tilt according to Linhof's web site; so its more a 2.5-way head.

It looks very similar to the FOBA Dual Tilting Head (ASMIA).

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/largeimages/247458.jpg

The Linhof has a larger diameter panning base (90mm vs. 80mm), but the weight (1800g for the Linhof and 1750g for the Foba) and weight rating (20kg for both) are similar.

The Foba is still available new. B&H lists it as a special order item. Their price is $1,357.50.

linhof have a great quick-release system on this head, i miss it so much on my new gitzo.
10° tilt is more than adequate to level a lf-camera. and the price is a bargain, if you compare gramm per $

foba = 77 cent per gramm
linhof = 55 cent per gramm, that's 37% cheaper ! :D :D
