Hi,
Which EL-Nikkor do I want for 6x6 medium format: the 80mm f/5.6 or the 75mm f/4?

Thanks!

The 80 El Nikkor is a six element lens. The 75 is a four element lens. Both will cover 6X6.

I have used both, and prefer the 80. It seems to be sharper.

In fact, I have a pristine 80 f5.6 El Nikkor, in original box and plastic bubble, that I no longer use.

I am willing to sell it for $50 + shipping.

Interested?

If Speedtrials does not want it I would.

Ok I've acquired a Beslar 75mm f3.5 (yeah Beslar not Beseler). This lens is only 3 elements but the price was right. Does anyone have any experience with this lens?

I have one of those but I've never used it. I understand it was made for Beseler by Rodenstock.

Depends on what is important to you. If your photographs need to be sharp all over for them to work then you are better off getting one of the 6 element 80mm lenses. They are cheap on Ebay compared to what paper will be costing you. If your photographs will work without needing to be maximally sharp the Beslar will be fine. Print size also factors in. If you only do 8x10's the Beslar will look better but for 16x20you may begin to see the difference. It's been years since I stopped using my Beslar. Replaced it with a 105 Nikon and liked it much better for what I do.
