Nice. Check out the chair image on Merg Ross' site for my favorite.
Always enjoy a good Chair image :)
a few of my best images are of chairs.
Chairs are possibly the hardest furniture to build, when trying combining beauty, form, function and durability.

I usually manage to be off the topic's real intent - here goes again.

Thanks, Kirk. I am guessing that it is the image of, "Torn Chair Seat", in Portfolio Four.

Okay, not shot on LF, but does convey to me a sense of 'aliveness'
I call the shot 'Vascular'

Your picture Andrew reminds me of one of mine taken in a cemetery in Charleston. The old tree is quite literally engulfing Mikell's 1896 gravestone - as if the "aliveness" is oozing out from the grave into the tree. Curiously, the gravestone has the most uninspiring epitaph engraved that I've ever seen ... "A Favorite with all who knew him". If that's the best anyone can do for me then I'd rather mine were blank.

When I was in Europe during the '60s (military service) and visited the old cathedrals, I always worried about the gargoyles talking to me, as if alive. But, I was never able to capture the motion blur on film of their lips moving. ;)
Later, my cameras started talking to each other, as shown in my avatar.

what does "aliveness" mean?
My definition, relative to photography, is an image that brings life to an inanimate object.

Thank you Monty and Kirk.
One of my favorites also, funny how that is. Chairs and tables have always fascinated me, if only they could talk! Or, perhaps it is better they remain silent, and maintain the mystery.

What to say, what not to say, who says more....
Better just look,

From the same story as above. Rather heavy symbolism but that is what makes for aliveness. The table is a kitchen cage for live animals.

Take a look at Imogen Cunningham's Unmade Bed (http://www.afterimagegallery.com/cunninghambed.htm). The spirit of the person lingers in the room.
The images on these pages are just stunning. Merg, Miguel and Christopher........oh my!
