I entered this in a monthly contest. The theme for January is Still Life.
Title: "Are you my mother?"

Hmmm. Now about putting an expiration date on the DSLR (the DSLR being the old and LF the new).

I'm just upset at myself for not tilting the front down! That would've improved the character of the composition.

OK. Just out of curiosity, I searched for Ralph Barker and found that he's a moderater with a profile shot of a much better version of my idea for a composition (that he had first). :o

It just shows how impossible it is to come up with something no one has ever done before. That is why I always throw things at the screen when I see someone complain that such-and-such a shot has "been done before" - as if that was relevant to anything!

If you think it'll look better shot a different way, then have a go - no law says you only get one chance. I shoot the same subjects many, many times: one day I'll get at least one of them right!

Yes and no.
There is something about the big boy looking over little wanna be brother that has a "Regal air" to it too. Both ideas are interesting and speak differently.

Your lighting looks very very nice and "smooth" :)

About the LF camera looking down at the Sweet Nikon.

i say no :)

for one:
the LF's position says " im not being used anymore"
it can also say " I am better than you" or
and it also says "you have to earn my respect"

think also of this, if you look at a statue of oh say, George Washington, it does not look back at you :)

So I like the composition very much. two thumbs up. :)

I think the title should be "Luke, I am your father."

Wonderful picture regardless of the title. I like it.
