Hi there,

We use a Sinar 5 x 4 camera with non digital lens which makes us 5 x 4 with some of our enquiries and viewpoints. We purchased some time ago a Sinar sliding back for our digital back but this is medium format. Is this the right place to be or should we be in another area to discuss issues, best wishes

There are a few people here who have used these, and a few of us who rent these for some work. Depending upon the types of questions, you might find answers here. You can also try ProPhotoForums (http://www.prophotoforums.com).

I think what you're saying is that you use the sliding back for medium format film? But, I'm not sure. If so, and since you're shooting 4x5 film, I'd say this is a good site.

If you're using a digital back with your sliding back and have digital back related questions, then it's very possible that you can get some well informed answers here. I know that I've gotten some excellent responses regarding digital backs.

I would also think that there would be a higher density of digital back users participating on some other forums. For example, you could try www.dpreview.com in the Pro Digital Talk forum.

Technically, the Sinar digital back is medium format. But, used on a view camera, it's the digital equivalent of rollfilm backs on view cameras, posts for which are allowed on the forum.

The GetDPI forums are likely a better choice for MFDB users than DPReview

Luminous Landscape is where most of the MFDB people are.
