Dear Folks

We are planning to drive to the Snowy Range Byway in Wyoming this weekend. Start on Sep 26th from Colorado, stay in Laramie and on Sat sep 27th go through the Snowy range byway and spend some time at the hot springs in Saratoga.

Wanted to know if the Aspen trees have turned to their fall colors

thanks

I would sugggest that you call the hotel in Centennial (Outlaw Inn?) or check with the forest service.

I've heard that the aspens near Centennial have good color right now. There are a few nice aspen groves in the first few miles out of Centennial heading toward the Snowies but once you head past Sand Lake Road it's almost all pine until you descend near the bottom of the Saratoga side of the Snowies probably 30 miles later. You can find better fall colors (but not better scenery) in the Medicine Bow National Forest in and around Vedauwoo and the Happy Jack areas which are closer to Laramie than the Snowy Range.

Went through there today and the colors are with the willows on either side of the Snowies as there are relatively few aspens in the entire area as was stated earlier.
