Looking for some help here. I would like to find some film sleeves for my 4X10 transparencies. Currently, they are stuck in some 8x10 film sleeves which is overkill. I've check with Light Impressions and couldn't find anything. Any suggestions out there? Thanks. Jim

Perhaps you can cut your own from long roll sleeve stock like this:

Yes, you'd have to check with Lineco to see whether they literally mean "120mm" or whether they really mean "120 roll film", which is actually more like 60mm.

The Uline product isn't intended for photographic storage per se - I don't know whether they can vouch for its suitability for that purpose.

At any rate, even if that particular Lineco product is really for 120 roll film, you might contact them and ask if they have larger size roll stocks. They make sleeves for 4x5 negatives/transparencies, and I'd imagine those are manfactured by cutting down long roll stock.

You can find 4x10 sleeves anywhere you find 8x10 sleeves. Cut one 8x10 sleeve in half, and voila you have 2-4x10 sleeves. While this will lead to them having one open side, this should not be a problem if you put your negatives in a box after sleeving. The purpose of the sleeve is to protect the surface of the negative from damage.

I bought a hot wire to seal the middle of an 8x10 sleeve and produce 2 4x10 slots.

I lucked out and found some sleeves for APS panaramic photos. They measure 4 x11 or something like that and fit two to a page. I asked a local shop if they had something for 4x10 and the guy was actually marking down these sleeves at that moment.

I guess timimg is everything.

This is a pretty neat product. I used to take an 8x10 sleeve and fold it in half. Sleeving and filing would work better, IMHO.

Guys,

Thanks for all the suggestions. After much research, I have found a company in Tennessee that will cut some for me. It's $80 for 1000 or .08 each. I have committed to 1000 just to get the order going. If any one would like some, you can contact Randy at Climax Photo. He was a pleasure to talk to. It might be something they might stock if interest is there. Phone number is 1-800-444-0977.

I will post this info in resources also. Thanks. Jim

Just a quick follow up on this. Received 1000 4X10 sleeves from www.climaxphoto.com and they work superbly. I bought them sealed, however, they will make them with a fold over seal if that is preferred. Price was $89 per thousand. Nice company to deal with. They also carry Printfile products at very reasonable prices. I'm not affiliated with them, just a very satisfied customer and thought I would pass this info on. Their phone number is 1-800-444-0977 and ask for Randy.

While they are discontinued we still have 4 or 5 packs of 4x11 100 sheet packs from Vue-All. They hold two 4x10 or 4x11" prints or film. They would be $17.10 per pack to anyone in the USA. If you are interested call 800 735-4373 to order them. List price was $36.00 per pack of 100. Item number is 6128.

I buy all of my sleeves, 4x5, 5x7, 5x12, 8x10 and 7x17 from Climax and have done so for years. I find their adaptability as well as the quality of their products better than any other source in the past 50+ years.

I've done business with ULine & you can contact them and ask them just what particular plastic is used in the 1500' roll. They do state FDA & EPA approved - I'd put more weight on the FDA. Should also be easy to check which "poly" the various brands of sized negafile/film-slide storage pages are made of.--alfredian
