View Full Version : Upgrades for Eversmart Jazz+?

Hi Folks,

Once again I am posting some additional questions to all Eversmart users.

So far, I will be in contact with a Service technician regarding the
CCD head alignment tolerance problems that I have with 2 of the 3 CCD
heads. In addition, I would also need to purchase 2 new bulbs and the
correct calibration target slide (Type II)for the Jazz+.

The original software that I got with the scanner (Version 2.5) is
hanging up my scanner at certain incidents when scanning, but overall
I am able to work the scanner. I would like to have the option to scan
in 16 bit if possible. Reflective/transparency scanning mask kit along
with at least 1 or 2 35mm slideholder tray will also be ordered at the
same time.

Now, for those that are running on the OXYgen software in OS X, are
you able to scan in 16 bit as part of this new software upgrade?
Anyone running OXYgen on their Jazz+? Is the FireWire upgrade kit
part of the OXYgen upgrade and is it still available for sale and from
whom?

Short of buying into a new scanner, I feel that this path would allow
me to utilize my scanner for a long time. Anyone out here feels the
same way as I do on upgrading for maximum performance on their scanners?

The other choice would be for me to just fix it and then buy into an
used Imacon scanner and have it CLA by Hasselblad. Your thoughts Pro
and Con would be appreciated.

BTW, Genesis was a recommended business for accessories that I needed. I called several times and I have yet to hear back from them with my inquiries for items listed above. I guess that they are either in short supply or simply do not have them at this present time.

Thanks in advance,

Evan Dong
