Hello everyone,

I just bought a Howtek scanner with the software and original software key included.

Everything seems to be working exept that Aurora doesn't recognize the software key (dongle to insert between keyboard and computer).

Has anyone encountered this same problem?

Thanks, Peter

That's a pretty old system, it could be any number of things related to attempting to get a newer OS and/or computer to see the dongle. My 4500 came with Polaris and dongle, I believe I ran it briefly on an old PowerMac with OS9, before finally giving up and getting Silverfast.
I wish I could be more specific help, I would also ask here-

as there are many experienced users there as well. Also check the files section, there may be more old Howtek stuff there.

Peter,

One thing to do is reinstall the software. The dongle extension may not be in the extensions folder. Restart after.
But your best bet is to get a new HD, install a clean os and then install the Aurora software. This should minimize your variables.

If you could also let me know the scanner model and mac system / OS you are using.

Hi Ian and Tyler,

Thanks for the answers. Sorry for the late reply, been a bit busy the last few days. I'll try your suggestions and get some more information about scanner and software which I'll post here.

Thanks, Peter
