The discussion regarding x-ray examination of exposed film in airports prompts m e to speculate on the idea of FedEx-ing exposed film back to the US. Do FedEx pa ckages go through x-ray machines? I shoot 8x10, which would hardly fit in my poc kets.

I was told that the US packages are not x-rayed because they are freight. I did n't ask about international shipments.

You can call FedEx and ask them.

Good luck, Bruce

I called FedEx and asked them that very question. They said that it is not up t o them what gets x-rayed, that Customs decides what is inspected, etc. Writing "Do Not X-Ray" on the box might work, but FedEx would NOT guarantee that.

What about getting it processed "over there" and sending back the processed film ? Of course this depends on where is nearest lab. You might also avoid nasty sur prises at home this way if you do it in a regular manner.
