I just recently purchased an Epson 1400 printer. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on using any of the compatible inks with the printer. If so, does anyone recommend any particular supplier?

The Claria inks are the best dye inks you will find, no question. For best longevity you are better off with the Epson OEM inks. Don't trust anyone elses numbers!! :D

That said, I have been using the OCP Claria match inks that you can buy from R-Jet Tek. Make sure you get the more expensive/better Cyan. I use them for proofing, then use Epson insk for final output

Here is a nice write-up on the inks:

They run about $27 a quart. So $167 for 6 quarts shipped (1 of each color.) Buy a cheap CIS off of Ebay for $50 and you are all set for the next 3-4 years.

There is a guy on Ebay that sells OCP inks if you want smaller quanitites.

I looked at all (most) of the suppliers. OCP was the only one that had any real longevity tests to point to, although as usual the results were almost antecdotal and weak.

Sorry it took so long to get a reply.

You can put Piezography K6 inks in this printer too. Haven't tried it but it is on my shopping list.
