Anyone have any suggestions for Atlanta area during August? I'll be at the town where Cox Communications is based (something Springs).
I have a feeling it'll be real hot and humid.
Hopefully, I'd love to travel with my 4x5 and take pix within a short walk of a car.

That must be the Sandy Springs area. You can probably drive over to one of the river parks next to the 'Hooch and take pictures, as well as wander east to Stone Mountain Park and shoot a bit. The Southeastern Railway Museum is a reasonable distance away too and is a great spot for any format.

It's actually in Lithia Springs... different direction. I'm not sure that there is any good reason to stick one's head under a dark cloth in August in Atlanta - it's hot and humid... OTOH, perfect weather for cold beer!

Hotlanta is HOT in August.

The Powder Springs area use to be full of old rustic barns and abandon cars ...

The Fox Theater was always a neat place to photograph if you can get permission. I've got some inside shots filed somewhere ... my 15 minutes of fame (Fox promo).

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is also a nice place to photograph. (http://www.atlantabotanicalgarden.org/home.do)

I think pictures do better than words ...

I miss photographing (and living) in Atlanta, but I do not miss the Spring weather -- tornadoes!! Hope all my Atlanta area forum member friends survived the recent batch of unstable weather. My Atlanta friends are a bit shaken up since they came way too close for comfort this past week.

Best,
Darr

Lithia Springs is very close to Sweetwater Park, where you can see the cloth mill ruins down by the creek and can shoot the water and rocks all day next to it.
