This looks pretty good!

I'm not familiar with this outfit, but I've been looking for a way to get my 12x20 kit farther away from the car. A pack board seems like the way to do this, but AFAIK there aren't too many on the market, especially used ones. If anyone in cyber space has had any experience with this type, lets hear about your experiences!

I would have to think one of these would be much more comfortable, but certainly not in the same price range.

Sorry 'bout that!
Try www.swisslink.com that should get you to the website and you can check out the headings & product--it's swiss army surplus.

John, this looks like a good idea. I'm building an 11x14 field camera right now and I was thinking of something like this. Not to bad for $20.00. May give it a try. I'm going to build a lightweight box for the camera and holders/lenses. I could attach it to this.

Now. I'm still looking for something for the 8x20!

Jim, I found this (http://www.fogdog.com/fog-stansport-realtree-freighter-aluminum-pack-frame--pi-2665268.html)
I hope that worked:
I need to be able to carry my 14x17 so this looks like the way to go, It should be offered in black also but maybe not.

I have something very similar that has been used for many years to carry ULF cameras. The pack I have was called a freighter frame when I purchased it many years ago.

You will need some strips to tie down the camera. You should be able to carry a 12X20 or 14X17 with a couple of holders strapped to this unit.

PB & sandy, I like this idea also. It would be nice if the site showed the measurements of this thing. I guess I could e-mail them to find out. This looks tall enough for the 8x20 to attach to the frame. I have it in a rolling duffle and could lash it to it. Thanks,

Jim

Yes, if you do a google on "freighter frame" you will find similar packs from other manufacturers. I know Kelty makes one and I believe Camp Trails. I think Mountainsmith used to have one (maybe they still do). Also, try "outdoors" sites like Cabelas as these packs are used by hunters for hauling game.

Also look for packs made for wilderness fire fighters. They are similar in design and made to haul large heavy loads. You may have to dig around to find something, but I have seen some in the past that looked like they'd be great for hauling ULF cameras.
