The 1800 can be used to make very good digital negatives. What process are you interested in creating negatives for?

Do a search on Google with "digital negative".

It worked great for me on a R1280 using MIS UT2 inkset. The negative made great wet prints.
I had issues with pizza wheels when printing with an R800 on pictorico white film. I could not find a work around, and trashed a few printers trying to remove pizza wheels.
Others may have had better luck, and I wish I had because the R800 is a fine printer otherwise.

It'll work ok but their are better choices in that price range. The HP B9180 is the top of the list.
