Does anyone know a source for new ferrotype plates and waxes?

A German mail order house but they'll probably ship to the States. 30 X 40 cm costs DM 89 which, with the strong dollar will cost about $40.

If you're going to be cold-glazing, then there's probably no advantage in using a chrome plate over a sheet of plateglass. Admittedly the metal sheet can be flexed to release sticky prints, but in my experience, if the print doesn't fall off on its own, the glaze isn't successful anyway. The only reliable method is hot-glazing, and even then small flatbed glazers don't usually apply enough pressure.A rubber roller for squeezing every tiny bubble of air out from under the print is the best accessory you'll ever buy for getting a good glaze. Forget waxes, a spotlessly clean polished surface is what you need.

Pete - Could you briefly explain the process using a glass plate. It sounds interesting.

Cheers!
