I call this image "alter ego" - photographed as found, late afternoon, Art Barn bench, at Esalen in Big Sur - submit images with interesting shadow content.

Hmm, well, here's my version of Ansel Adams' self portrait (on some ancient 4x5 kodak HIE infrared, thanks Hiro - hope you eventually bought that beer with the $5 I sent you :)):

Does that count? :)

(BTW, Hiro, if you're reading this, I shot my favorite photo ever on that lowly box of ancient HIE you sent me:

So, uhh, I can barely express my gratitude).

A doorway to an over the store apartment in Dundee, MI. Speed Graphic and Schneider Symmar 150mm at f/32. Plus-X 4x5 developed in HC110 and printed on Brovira #2 in Dektol for 5 minutes and selenium toned. At the time I liked the interplay of the marks on the wall and shadow. (It's better in person. ;) )

This another image that I dug up from the archives. I liked the shadow play with the rust texture. I had to work pretty fast since the sun doesn't wait. Cambo 4x5, f/32, Vericolor 4x5 film (boy do I miss that film :( ) 11x14 print on Kodak RC. The scan was made with a Oly E-20 so it's not a sharp as it could be. Titled "A Matter of Time". The second shot is called "Itsy Bitsy Spider". :) I was going to call it "Iron Maiden" (that dates it don't it) till I noticed the spider in the print. ;)

Do the shadows have to be dark? ;^)

Is the second one an unfinished bridge?

I love the tonality of unpainted, cast concrete and the pattern.

(It should be a sin to paint cast concrete)

Hi Nathan:

Yes, it was the supports for an overpass on I-287 in NJ before they put the deck on.

Took me awhile to scan this. It is an older image...scanned 5x7 contact print. Taken in 1992 (I tend to cast a larger shadow these days.)

Unfortunately, one of the strongest shadows in this pic is the tripod head (Manfrotto 410) on the left side. Oh well, I can always go back and re-shoot that plant, I'll try to get to it on a morning after rain again, I like the water effects.

"Arizona" Cactus Garden at Stanford University. I work for Stanford and live just off campus, so I do a lot of shooting at that garden.

Drew, nice to see the cactus garden from "the Farm". I never seemed to find the time to photograph enough on campus. I was always looking for my son and waiting to drive back to So Cal during his breaks.

This shot is one I did in a friends front yard.

Miguel.

I like the range of tonality and the composition. Kudos! Also the manequin series with the windows bringing in light.
