To those who are interested: Freestyle Photo will be carrying 5x7 Arista 125 and 400 B&W films starting shortly after the new year. NO PRICES are set at this time but by association with their 4x5 and 5x7 pricing we can be pretty much assured it will be $2 or more less than the other 5x7 fil ms of the same speeds they are selling now.
I have been working with the film buyer & am glad they are receptive to the idea . With Kodak going to the requirement of one purchasing 3,000 sheets of 5x7 film at one time, paying upfront and then waiting 2-4 months for delivery, we will h ave one more option when the supplies of TMax and others finally stop.
If you are a 5x7 user or have been thinking of it, this will be the same film av ailable in 8x10 and 4x5 sizes. Both speed emulsions are nice to work with and I welcome the film in this size. And, for your friends who may be thinking of movi ng up to a larger format from 35mm, let them know the 5x7 makes a lot of sense a s it is very close to the proportions of 35mm film, a lot more so than 4x5.
