View Full Version : SilverFast Ai 6.5 cropping tool sluggish?

I just upgraded from SilverFast Ai 6.0 to 6.5. What I have found is that the cropping tool is sluggish and slow to react. For example, whenever I attempt to adjust one of the sides or top or bottom there is a delay and then the dreaded OSX circle of death starts to spin, and then stops after a couple of seconds. Is there some fix for this? The cropping took in 6.0 was very responsive.

Dear Sandy,
could you give the latest Web download 650r8a a try, as we optimized the crop frame drawing after some changes to enable free rotation.
Please give it a try and let me know.
BTW: wich machine are you using ?

Greetings,

Nils

Nils,

Thanks for the reply. I am using SilverFast 6.5 and the Epson 4990 with a 24" Intel iMac.

Dear Sandy,
your machine seems fine to me :-)

Well, please give the 650r8a Version a try ( i assume from the first date of your postings that you are using a 650r6 or earlier ).

Greetings,

Nils

Nils,

I have tried to download the revision several times but each time I am asked to register the product, even though I purchased it directly from SilverFast. Then when I try to go to the site it will not open. I just tried this evening for the fourth time and same result. I will send you the serial number if you can help.

Sandy.

Dear Sandy,
you can just use the "downloads" section of www.silverfast.com, select your scanner platform etc.

Yes, it works fine for me on the iMac with System OS 10.4.x and Photoshop CS.

I just obtained CS3 but have not yet had the time to try it out with SilverFast and the 4990.

OK, an update.

I installed Photoshop CS3 on my Intel iMac and SilverFast 6.5 with the Epson 4990 works fine.

However, to install Photoshop I had to update the System to OS 10.4.10 from some other 10.4.x system I had installed.

After that, just make sure that the Photoshop Plugin for SilverFast is installed in the same folder as Photoshop CS3.

hmm, and does the multi-exposure work?
i could only get 6.5 to work at smaller scan sizes (<100mB) and not at all with m-e turned on

Will be on the look for these problems. So far I have not tried multi-exposures or scans larger than 100mb.

OK, I just made a few scans of over 500mb and had no problem at all with the combination of SilverFast/CS3/4990 on an Intel iMac running OS 10.4.10.
