Does anyone have any idea where you easily can get those little (plastic?) measuring scales - usually black and white alternating squares - say 6" or a 1' (or same in cm?)

I've always worked places - museums, universities - where they just had them laying around.

Now I need to find some for myself...

thanks

Probably from the C-Thru Ruler Company (http://www.cthruruler.com). I have some of their Printers Halftone and Density Rulers, though I think what you are describing might be on this (http://www.cthruruler.com/collections/products.php?product_id=19) page. They also make custom rulers, so if you have something unusual in mind, they can probably make one.

Ciao!

It might be easier to design and print them out with a computer.

You mean a scale for actively MEASURING - or for photographic purposes. It sounds like you're looking for a photographic scale...

yes - sorry - the sort you plonk down in a photograph for scale - I've used them for archeology and artifacts and for evidence. Had one laying around years, but can't find it anymore.

I might of found somewhere I can just print it off (though a plastic one would be more durable...)

And you're right Jim, I'm sure if I thought about it I could design one myself...

Are you doing a Canadian version of a HABS report?

Are you doing a Canadian version of a HABS report?

no - I have to photograph a bunch of artifacts, but not for an institution
