Ok, we haven't had one of these for awhile. Let's make the images for this thread simple images, your definition.

This image is an early morning image of Kahaluu Bay on the Island of Oahu. In the background is Chinaman's Hat (or Mokoli'i Island).

December 27'th 2004 (IIRC) at 10:30 am - location is 48-40N and 80-45W. Temp was about -40 when it warmed up enough to let the shutter work. Not a great picture, but it means a lot to me. It's where we're building our retirement house in a couple of years. FP4+ in a Calumet 4x5 thru' a Schneider 210.

Don

Hi Don,

There are two ways you can upload a file, either by attachment as you did, or by using a third party hosting company (like Flickr). unfortunately, PSD files are specific to Adobe software so not everyone can see or even open them. From with Photoshop you need to do something like "Save for the Web..." and save it as a jpg file. From there, you can attach it.

Hi Robert,

I believe that my old (need to upgrade) version of ACDSee (Version 7.0; they are up to 9.0) was able to open the PSD file after it was saved to my hard drive and after it was downloaded via Firefox. After viewing the file I deleted it so it is no longer on my computer.

Hi Rich,

Fortunately, I have Photoshop Elements 5.0 on my laptop, so I was able to see Don's image before he deleted it. I didn't realize it was a PSD until I tried to open it. I think he will be able to fix it then repost.

Hope things are well with you. I'm off to Maui on Thursday, to do some photography and spend time with family (actually, I will be playing tour guide for my brother and his family). I hope to get some picture taking in as well.

Thanks for sharing everyone,

Despite the severe drought in at least 90% of Australia there has been massive tropical rains up north which are finding there way into the lake Eyre basin. It is doubtful if the basin will fill this year.

From wiki -- "It is one of the largest internal drainage systems in the world, and covers roughly 1.2 million square kilometres, including much of inland Queensland, large portions of South Australia and the Northern Territory, and a part of western New South Wales."

and more -- "To provide a sense of scale, the Lake Eyre Basin is about the size of France, Germany and Italy combined."

Jeremy,

Thanks for the advice. :) I could also make a scan of it. I know about it, but I don't make prints yet either. I just got an enlarger, but it's still sitting in my garage and I still have to make room for it. It looks as if the scanner will come first, only I still don't quite know when. LF has so far been a VERY slow affair for me, for several reasons such as space, time and equipment. But that's all right, photography is only a hobby and LF is not my primary method either. I will eventually get there, and I am having fun along the way, which is the main purpose of it anyway.

Cabin Sink and Radiator.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3425/3935730990_7a3bbe70ae.jpg

The inside of a cabin at Breitenbush Hot Springs. I liked the vintage look of the sink and radiator. It's the first Image I took with the Zeca after I installed the new ground glass. The old one was shattered in my camera bag. It had lasted for 74 years until I came along.

Camera: Zeca 9x12cm made in 1933
Lens: 135mm Zeiss Jena
Film: Efke PL 50 developed in W2D2+ Pyro

Why bother to shoot this in 8x10? Because it's an Ektaroid. It was cheaper to test with a chrome before shooting a box of 8x10 Polaroid what with variations and stuff.

Somehow I managed to overlook this thread until now. Looking through it's intiguing to see what 'simple' means to different photographers. I've chosen something that's simple to me but not necessarily in the eye of the beholder.

Agreed, a lovely, sumptuous image, especially to a garlic-lover. If I had a girlfriend, I'd be inspired to give her "the Old Dutch Oven". :)
