The minimum volume of developer for 6 sheets of 4x5 in a Jobo 2523 tank is 270 ml. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, is the minimum the same for 1 sheet?

Assuming rotary then yes.

I have used 200ml for 2 or 3 sheets, but ensure that use outer slots in 2509N holder. Just need to ensure film get covered, use the wings to splash it all over.

use the wings to splash it all over.

Is THAT what those things are for! Thanks folks. Much appreciated.

You can use a 2820 Print Test drum instead of a 2523 drum. The 2509N reel fits inside it the same way and it uses the same 270ml minimum. However, if you only want to process 1 or 2 sheets, then you can take out the reel and use the drum alone for processing. In this configuration, the minimum solution is 40ml. I have done this quite successfully with both PMK Pyro processing and E-6 processing

Also check your 2523 drum before buying a 2820: Mine is a 2820! The only difference is the low ribs on the inside of the print drums, and it turns out that many of the film drums have these. They've just put a different sticker on the same drum!

I always use a bit more than the minimum. For this set up I always used 300mm. The math and the measurements were much easier. I standardized on this for all jobo processes with this drum size. It made life simpler.
