I've bought a Sinar F2 and the threaded screw hole on its tripod clamp is larger than the standard diameter thread I'm familiar with from 35mm and medium format cameras. My tripod is reasonably strong and I wonder if anyone knows of a good adaptor which would interface between the two thread sizes and allow me to use the Sinar with this tripod?

It's a 1/4 to 3/8" adapter that you can get at any camera store. You would be better to have the 3/8 bolt, but the adapter will hold.
Cost about $.50, a buck if your getting ripped off.

The adapters will work but like Greg said, if you have a professional level tripod you should be able to find a 3/8-16 version of whatever screw your tripod uses. And for an F2, you probably need a professional level tripod...

You Should Only Use The Adapter Made By Sinar. It Screws In From The Top Of The Camera To Tripod Mount So It Eliminates The Possibility Of It Coming Out Accidentally. It Is Longer And Much More Secure Than Third Party Adapters.
