Shortening Sinar Standard Bellows?

Crazy or silly, but I have a spare Sinar standard bellow that I would (and likely will) shorten to accommodate a 47mm S-A XL. If any of you have done the same can you recommend an adhesive to re-attach the bellows in the mid of its length? (I will leave the standards unions as is.)

Honestly just go out and purchase an OEM Sinar used WA bellows. They are being auctioned off at bargain prices. They will allow you to make front or rear standard movements that a shortened standard bellows will not allow you to make. Have done it and been there... but Gorilla glue if you insist on doing it.

....or reach out to Camera Bellows and ask them to create a shortened version for you.

They have all the templates, so it should not be too hard or expensive to make a custom set for you.

I've paid from $25 to $50 (maybe $75) for original Norma WA bellows. Some have been really dusty and dirty but they clean up nicely.

Jac, I certainly understand your DIY impulse and wanting to use what you already have on hand—welcome to my world. I have used plain old white glue on bellows and it worked fine, although you need to fuss with a bit until the glue sets up. If I were to do this today I think I would use Lexel. As the label says "it Sticks To Almost Anything" which seems to be true. It is also clear, stays flexible, and grabs quickly. A tube will last a lifetime even if we were a bit younger...

Hi Jac,

The problem with your proposed solution is movements.
You can't move the lensboard significantly up/down or left/right because the pleats restrict movement.

That's what a bag bellows is designed to do.
Buy one, or trade your standard bellows for one.

I appreciate the excellent input, Leigh, Richard Wasserman and others, but the only lens I will use on this modified Sinar Alpina is a 47mm Super-Angulon XL with which I will not use movements. It's a one-trick pony. :)

Are we okay with that?

Why the standard bellows. I shortened a bag bellows, and it works fine. In my view the bag bellows are oversized and need shortening.
