Hi Guys

Im making my first steps into large format, A friend of mine has given me a Burke & James 8x10 Field View Camera
172809

Now its come with a rather nice Rodenstock lens, but it has no back what so ever. From my research on the internet I can see the Deardorff V8 back has the same register pins and the channeled lips on the back of the lens board look to match.

But I can't find further information. Just wondering if anybody knows whether these two will mate up. Or where I could find a back to fit.

Thank you

Have owned both cameras but at different times so can't be sure but I don't think the backs would be interchangeable. Adapting another 8x10 wooden back to the B&J would not be all that hard. Years ago I was able to adapt another wooden back to my 8x10 B&J REMBRANDT with just a little bit of minor woodworking and Gorilla glue. Pieces of wood I got from a hobby store.

Not sure on the Deardoff back but my B&J 8x10 has a Kodak 2D back on it and it works perfectly.

I think my 8x10 Kodak 2D has an AGFA back on it.

I have an 8x10 to 4x5 Burke & James back and it does not fit my 8x10 Deardorff. The pin spacing is incorrect. Plus the back is about 1/2" smaller width than the Deardorff.
