Not exactly August, but I scanned in August. That counts right? Took this early last year, processed early this year. Waited for my AN glass to come so I can scan my LF stuff a little better on my V700. Daughter in town from college and had little time to set up.
Arista EDU @ 200
Chamonix, Kodak Ektar 300, racked out a bunch. I think I underexposed it a little, neg looks a little light. Large reflector under the camera.

Toyo 45a, Caltar II 210mm F6.8, Foma 200 Rated at EI 120, Processed in Adonal.

This is from my first attempt in the studio with a large format camera a few weeks ago. The negs are a bit thinner than I was expecting, but I was able to get close to what I wanted to achieve after scanning.

Thanks @koraks. I'm still learning how to handle the beast, so simply getting the shot was enough for me.

As for yours (& the other one you posted under nude) - very challenging photography. Deliciously dark and sinister. I like it when boundaries are pushed.

I keep coming back to the picture every once in a while. I redo the original everytime I learn something new on my software. I was using Lightroom but now I switched my workflow to Darktable. I'm having a hard time with the spotting tool. The neg is super scratched and I think I have another shot of him somewhere else but this composition was the best of them. It's backlit, face is dark, and everything else that's wrong. Which is good for me cause I learn how to retouch it every time I watch another learning video. If it was a wet print, I would have just dodge his face, let the background go bright, and a little corner burning.

callmebrick, nice portrait. Looks like you were shooting into the setting/set sun and the subject's face was in shadow, is this right? The light seems to come from behind or to camera right. Turning the subject to camera right or moving the camera position to the right would have worked well in my estimation.

callmebrick

It was an intentional choice to have sun behind her. I was trying to get a halo effect in her hair by having her backlit. Like so https://i.ytimg.com/vi/iWs7OqLo-LQ/maxresdefault.jpg

I had a reflector panel but it wasn't enough. Fill flash would have saved me, or if she'd arrived on time. I was surprised how fast the sun set once golden hour started.

Thanks for the comment!

Thanks, Shanghai is pretty decent for the cost, but the lens is what got me. $5 Surplus lens, I wasn't expecting much but am quite pleased.Hi,
I've looked for this lens. Do you have a link?

I got it from Taobao, A chinese ebay style online shop. Not really useful unless you can read Chinese.

Calumet 45N, Schneider 210mm f/5.6, Portra 160.

Lesson learned, don't take Portra 160 to a golden hour portrait shoot.

You can still save the image in post-processing. Not ideal but it can be done. The negative has enough information.

The lens is a couple mm smaller than the shutter, so I wrapped the edge with tape to fill the gap. It fits so that I can just screw it in now and the threads bite into the tape. It's not a long term solution, but this was a test to see if I wanted to bother with designing an adapter and having it 3d printed. Maybe add a provision for waterhouse stops...
