You can buy these little "12V Digital Relay Cycle Delay Timer Timing Switch light motor reversing Control" chipsets out of China for under $10 on the 'bay. The green yellow white you see coming out of the first relay plugs into the JOBO board and does the same thing the mechanical fingers did so poorly. Runs on a 12V wall wart. The yellow is the 'common' on the JOBO. I set it up for 9 seconds, * reverse for 9 second * repeat. Easy peasy. Should have done it a long long time ago.

Hope maybe that helps someone.

Wow! Just got out of the darkroom after dealing with an episodic issue I have with the JOBO CPP fingers and see this! I am going to give it a try Jim.

You mean the JOBO chicken foot that reverses the motor? Honestly I have never had an issue with mine. Nice solution though.

Let me know when you want to sell that JOBO. Must be a low mileage cream type puff.

On the contrary. The pump in mine is long since dead, replaced with a conventional garden pump. The gearbox is loud (I guess they all are). And I had to replace the drain valve or the tank would leak everywhere. It's also dirty and smells like an aquarium, but that's totally my fault.

Three weeks ago I was given a CPA 2. Just now powered it up and it reverses well with the white chicken foot. Any advice for a time interval other than 9 seconds? I'll be processing b&w film, and maybe later C-41 color.

Thanks Jim. It's good to know there is a work around if there is a problem.

9 seconds is arbitrary TSAR. No science what-so-ever. I do think during developing equal opportunity sloshing is worthwhile though. For stop, fix and wash I plan to put an off - on switch and just let it go one direction which seems easier on the motor. I'm only doing traditional black and white films. Good luck on the colors. I used to bang my head on the wall trying to do chrome films from powder recipe's. Then they invented computers.

Great idea. Does the relay switch the motor direction under load or is there a brief interval?

All it does is replace the switch with the fingers, so the motor control board on the JOBO still has the delay-stop-delay-start the other direction that it always did. Works as before.
