good day...

i was able to find the following on the photomark site regarding the draw of the available bellows for arca swiss cameras:

35-210mm.......wide-angle leather........072050
35-180mm.......wide-angle synthetic.....072051
150-240mm.....standard synthetic........072040
240-600mm.....long synthetic...............072060

i've gotta think that these numbers are a little on the conservative side... to cover from 75 - 450 does one really need three bellows... wide-angle leather 75 - 210, standard 210 - 240, and long 240 - 450? surly this can't be right... is it possible to cover 75-450 with just two?

if the wide angle can be used up to 240, one could get by with just the wide and long.
or, if the standard can be used down to 75, one could get by with just the standard and long.
or, if the standard can be used up to 450, one could get by with just the wide and standard.

i guess what i'm asking is what are the actual usable ranges allowing for reasonable (landscape) movements without risking damage to the bellows?

how do you guys have yours equipped?

thanks,
scott

On my M 4x5:
< 150: synthetic w.a. ,
150-240 (not much room for movements left with 240): synthetic normal.
240 with full movements (close up) and longer: long bellows and rail extention.

I use the WA bellow for my 90, and the standard bellows with the 150 and the Nikor-T 360 and 500 (tele design). I have the long bellows and they are too long for the Nikor-T 500; the bellows sags and crops the frame. I also just got the 720 rear element, and but haven't tried it out yet.

has anyone contacted camera bellows about making a bellows like the one they did for canham that can cover a wider range for the arcas?

The part numbers Scott mentions are for the older 171mm front/rear standards. I wonder if the bellows for the regular F-Line cameras have been reconfigured along the same lines as the bellows for the Field camera?

Camera Bellows can make the bellows but you must supply the frames from an Arca bellows.

hey peter... thanks for the good news. i sent them an email on thursday asking that very thing. i'd be more than willing to send the standard bellows to them and have them use the frames. i'm waiting to hear back from them, but once i do, will post here.

if they could make one bellows that would cover 75 - 450 that would be great... one less thing to carry!
