Here are a few from me to start the month. When I'm bored I take selfies. This is (I think) the 300mm Universal Heliar lit with my new fresnel on 4x5.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l496/Tim_Meisburger/2016-2%20Papua%20and%20IFF/passports006a_zps0vha1l0s.jpg (http://s1120.photobucket.com/user/Tim_Meisburger/media/2016-2%20Papua%20and%20IFF/passports006a_zps0vha1l0s.jpg.html)
and here is a dusty scan of an already varnished half-plate, shot on the Dallmeyer 3b, wide open I think.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l496/Tim_Meisburger/2016-2%20Papua%20and%20IFF/2016-3%20IFF%205_zpslzk6jj58.jpg (http://s1120.photobucket.com/user/Tim_Meisburger/media/2016-2%20Papua%20and%20IFF/2016-3%20IFF%205_zpslzk6jj58.jpg.html)

Here are some Indonesian girls cooking sate on my barbecue. This was shot in 8x10 on the Dallmeyer 3b stopped down to f/16. But the 3b doesn't cover 8x10 (doh!), so I eliminated the vignette by printing in cyanotype. This is actually the worst print I made, but my wife gave away the others before I had a chance to scan.
http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l496/Tim_Meisburger/2016-2%20Papua%20and%20IFF/2016-3%20IFF%203_zpshbaerfc4.jpg (http://s1120.photobucket.com/user/Tim_Meisburger/media/2016-2%20Papua%20and%20IFF/2016-3%20IFF%203_zpshbaerfc4.jpg.html)
Finally, here is a little portrait of my little grandniece Emily, who lives high in the mountains in Tembagapura, Papua, Indonesia. This was shot on 4x5, and I must say it is very difficult to get focus, then ensure a toddler doesn't wiggle before the film is inserted and shot taken. Still, this is my favorite out of focus shot I've ever made, and the first time I've seen "out-of-focus" as perhaps a useful method of soft-focus.

Thanks for the nice words! The focus on the nose wasn't on purpose - the subject moved a bit before the exposure.

Not your typical LF Portrait this looks very casual and natural more like a Portrait done with a 35mm camera in the course of a reportage or family outing. Very nice.
Looks like there is a problem with my previous image - I can only see it with Safari on my laptop. It doesn't show on my phone or with Firefox.
Sorry for the double post.

Thanks! There is actually a bit of front swing and fall involved but it doesn't stand out much. I got lucky with the timing since they were both pretty engrossed in their painting and moving quite a bit.

I used a cheap muslin backdrop I bought off of amazon - be warned it is a bit thin and I have to clamp it some black colorama to stop whatever is behind it from showing through!

I am very impressed with this image. The girl's pose and expression is excellent, and the interaction between the subjects has been caught perfectly. The placement of the boy's left arm provides a strong edge to the composition directing attention back into the frame, and to the activity he is involved in. I would be very pleased to have made such a beautiful picture!

I'm with Sergei; really sweet, Tom.
I'm not one for SF, but I've always been impressed by most images I've seen shot with the PS945.
I only wish there were less expensive alternatives to try out, but these days many good SF lenses command a premium.

Thank you Sergei and Ari - it was more a test between XTOL and Pyrocat HD shooting against a window. I think the PS945 is much less Soft focus then an Imagon or Verito wide open. I like the out of focus areas.

Thanks! I got pretty lucky, she had made eye contact a second or so before in that "what are you doing" kind of way--with myself just standing next to the camera with the cable release in hand and dark slide out. Another version a minute or so earlier. 147564

It is hard for people to sit still, and at f/45 the DOF still isn't too great. People were complaining about the bright flashes so I didn't want to go f/90.

While I don't shoot digital I do still appreciate a little instant gratification now and then. This was photographed using a 4x5 Auto Graflex and Fiji's now discontinued 3000b. I will miss this film for its ease of use, beauty and wonderful tonality even when overexposed as this photograph is.

Yes - it is sharp but very low contrast and prone to flair. I need to figure out a lens shade for it!

I made a DIY hood for my Pentac out of a round plastic container and some black flocking paper. Works great. The filter thread seems to be nonstandard , like 76mm or so.
My first try with Galaxy paper. I metered it as ISO125, allowed for a third of a stop of bellows compensation—my 450mm lens was extended to 600mm to focus this close—and it came out just right. My only problem is that when looked at 100% magnification there are all sorts of black speckles on the image. I don't think these are from my water supply.

Edit: Forgot to add, I did pre-flash in my usual way (1/3 of final exposure through a sheet of white paper) and I did load the film holders and develop under a red Paterson safelight with no obvious fogging.

Thanks for the tip Ed - I read somewhere about fitting a rubber Mamiya lenshood to it but it is indeed 77mm that lenshood and the Pentac not :-/

Heck, I'm REALLY glad to know FP-3000b will keep well for that long!
Now if you'll just share your time travel technique I ..er, we, can go back before it was discontinued and stock up on a hundred or two boxes at eight bucks each. :D
Lovely high key portrait, BTW. I have two or three boxes of FP-3000b in my fridge, and since it's still available albeit at inflated prices I'm tempted to grab a few more.

Flickr's magic makes this a bit oversharpened, it's much smoother in it's original form.

Fabulous composition ... complementary angles, contrasting equal spaces (almost yin/yang like) and the toes and arms pointing to the reflection. Everything but his body is slightly akimbo adding to the interest ... and what a great subject.

No Hugo that one was shot with a Fujinon-L 420mm @ f/8.
I did an 11x14 inch plate after this one with the Voigtländer 18" but it was the end of my chemicals and I did not have enough developer to fully cover the plate :( A real shame because it would have been a much better image. The bokeh from the Voigtländer is incredible. I think I will only be using this lens on that camera from now on!

Thanks again for the camera it is really superb and a joy to use.
Killer stuff Alex. That's a big plate! I've only seen/shot whole-plate size, with a friend though so I didn't do much but assist. We are still planning some ULF plates soon.
I took this weeks ago and forgot about it. This is from an annual festival, and the city was taking Instagram photos of people with this little frame/chalkboard. I saw this and grabbed this shot - the camera was pre-focused and I just lined up the aux. rangefinder by moving myself.
