Cleaning out Political threads from the Past?

I always check the suggested appropriate links at the bottom of the page and was dismayed to-day to find a link to a thread called "Should Patton have rolled on to Moscow in 1945" from around 2006. Obviously the no politics was not in force or enforced back then. I know many old threads have single sections were, in the "heat of battle" guidelines are forgotten. But perhaps the mods could delete threads like this which are hardly typical of our sober and focussed site?

It appears in the Linhof cameras before 1945 thread.

So long as they're not igniting trouble today, our inclination is to leave them be.
