New to the forum and I hope you all can put up with a thousand questions for awhile. :)
I am shooting 4x5 and making salt prints and I have a really nice enlarger that I haven't set up yet. Oh I have only made one salt print and that was yesterday. LoL total newbie here.

My first salt print ever. Was really dark and cloudy exposed for 24 minutes and still was not enough time.

Welcome, Terry!

Eventually, you'll probably want to get a UV light source. If I remember right, Forks may not get a bunch of sunny days! The first time I passed thru there was hitch-hiking in 1973 -- stayed in the campground a couple of nights over the 4th of July.

Enjoy and ask away! Lots of info in the archives and such on this site...makes good reading.

Welcome, Terry!

Forks, that's a beautiful part of the state. Granted, I'm not sure Washington has an places that aren't!

Thank you ,
Yep I need a uv light for sure because it does stay really wet and grey here much of the year.

Terry,
Welcome to the forum! I hope you are staying dry during our current series of rain and wind storms--one after the other. Even here in Port Townsend in the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains the ground is soaked--and everyone is tired of it all.

Congrats on your salt print too.

Keith

Thanks Kieth. Well this time of year we expect this kind of weather here but I am getting itchy to shoot and try out my new enlarger. I love PT and go there often. Jim welcome to our state :)

Leszek I will be shooting the beaches as soon as the weather calms down. Right now we are going through one big storm right after the other.

Greetings Terry-

Fellow LF photographer from Seattle-Tacoma area here. If your into Alt Process you may want to check out CPHT-Pacifica (http://www.altphotopacifica.org/Home.html), they do some interesting meet-ups on Alt Process in general and are a good bunch of folks. I'm just starting to get into Carbon Transfer (onto glass) myself and have done Van Dykes, Cyanotypes in the past.

As a dedicated carbon printer I'll have to find everyone into Alt Processes once we move.

Welcome! Since you're in Forks, I bet you'll be sharing not just salt prints, but plenty of landscapes too.

As you'll recognize, here I am above Hwy 101 just north of Forks – enjoying a view of the Olympics:

Many of my image posts are near Forks, often in the forests, valleys, and mountains you see out there!

Good luck with LF, looking forward to seeing your images.

Well we are a little more used to it out here than you guys and I grew up here and worked in the woods for many years. However I really want some sun so I can make salt prints. Might have to wait until I am in Death Valley in Febuary . :)
