Slightly OT I know, but...

Has anyone any experience of using a well profiled Chromira in Canada? There isn't one in Spain, so I might as well go nearer the gallery. I need a lab with a larger size Chromira (the 50inch version) to print a 40x80 inch image and then ship directly to a gallery in Toronto. The lab MUST be able to accept the file by ftp, and MUST have an accurate profile/softproof for download (time won't allow me this time for a proof). Initially this will be just one image, then about 10 in the summer, and later 20 or 30 images, so I'd like to establish a relationship with someone capable of looking after me on a long-term basis! profiling is very important, as I've dealt with some labs in the past where the profiling was a joke , so I'd value some personal experiences. I've tried contacting Carousel, but they aren't answering any of the email addys I have from them, or from their frontpage. West Coast Imaging was my other choice, as their profiles are excellent, but they only go to 30 inches.
Can anyone help??

Julian,

One suggestion is LaserLight Photographics, in California. I know they do Chromira work, and I'm pretty sure they can print to the 40 inch size you need. I've worked with them and have been very pleased. Check www.laslight.com. (http://www.laslight.com.)

Thanks Chris, they are only listing 30inches as their widest, but I'll contact them

Duggal in New York can do 72" LightJet and can handle FTP, but I'm not sure if they are doing Chromira. I haven't used them for digital myself, so I can't say how accurate their profiling is, but they are one of the biggest NYC labs and have lots of high-end clients. Info at www.duggal.com. West oast Imaging just gave me an estimate on a 48"x60" Chromira print. They mentioned that Chromiras over 30" take longer. Maybe that means they farm these out but I would expect if that's true then they would select a vendor with similar quality standards as their own.

Hi Greg, thanks for the email. Yeah I've just had a quote from them too
but its quite a bit more expensive than the lab I'm going with. These guys

(prices are in Cad dollars)are in Edmonton, and Tim Atherton has just had his exhibit done there. he's at the same gallery as me so I'm going with them. A bit slow on email though!
