Hi All -
I am in the process of restoring a agfa ansco 8x10 I am missing the focus gear and rack and have no idea what to ask for. I called customer service at McMaster-Carr and W.M. Berg but they don't seem to be able to help me if I can't give them the the pitch, or teeth or lord know what - so can anyone help me give me the idiots guide to gears or better yet what part numbers to ask for - I need the gears, the rack, the rod connecting the gears and knobs - any help would be great
Thanks in advance!

Try Cameraeccentric.com.

Seth seems to have a ton of info on old cameras of many varieties.

I have the same camera. I also have a best friend who is a brilliant machinist who has all the bells and whistles for measuring odd things. I may be able to pin him down this weekend and see if we can put together a comprehensive list, but no promises until I've asked him first.

Just to verify, your bed does have the extension rail built in, correct?

Hi Tim
Yes mine has the built in extension rail. Thanks for checking with your friend, I will check out that site too.

Hi!!!

Don't worry so much about the gear pitch... As long as you have the correct drive gear that matches the rack, you are fine...

Your bigger task will be to find a rack that will match up to the camera, and will screw to the right place/height to match-up with the new drive gear... The new drive gear will have to fit it's shaft, and be the right diameter to engage the rack, so get an idea of the space where the two shall meet...

Shouldn't be impossible!!!

Good Luck!!!
