A friend recently gave me this book, full title, How to make good pictures : a book for the amateur photographer ([1922]) available here for free Internet Archive (https://archive.org/details/howtomakegoodpic00eastiala).

He gave me a clean 1st edition hardback, which is the size of a paperback.

Inside has no date, but MOMA lists it as from 1915's. Page down here for Moma's take away (http://www.moma.org/interactives/exhibitions/2012/manuals/).

I find the book fascinating and still useful in it's very concise, yet accurate explanations of all any photographer might want to know. Obscure techniques are clarified.

I suggest reading this book for many tips on older thinking and many ways to make pleasing images. I now am carrying it with me for reading at meals.

See you soon Mr Moto Guzzi!

I have a couple of these booklets and in my opinion they are worth their weight in gold for someone who enjoys using older cameras.

I own the spanish version of this book. Its title is «La fotografía sencilla y práctica. Manual del aficionado» and the translator is Adolfo Jordá. No publication year inside, but it shall be edited around 1936.

This one is before flashbulbs and talks of flash paper sheets.

The flashbulb was invented in 1930.

Hmm, that top image looks suspiciously like they're chimping...
Maybe even a touchscreen on the back of that camera, or her iPhone is laying there...
Could this be possible evidence of time travel?

That's teaching a teenager and we know that's as impossible as time travel.
