Excellent! Sometimes that "expired" look fits just right...

But it begs the question, is your film older than your daughter? :)

Valerio is a friend of mine, and also a budding photographer. This was his first time to see a large format camera in action! He helped me sort out the details of shooting Rockland Tintypes indoors with strobe. It took a LOT of power, but we made it work. The darker one is 4 pops of 650ws from one strobe, the brighter one was 3 pops of 650ws from two strobes. Both were about 3 feet from the subject.

Sorry, I haven't had time to do a proper scan of the tintypes, so crappy iPhone photos will have to suffice for today. :)

Sheldon, those are both wonderful and have a gorgeous 3-D rendering. At wide-open, did you have trouble getting them all in focus? Or did you use some tilt?

Sheldon N

Thanks! No tilt, and yes I had a heck of a time getting them all to stay in the plane of focus. It took many promises and bribes. :)

At least thats what i am gathering. There will be long and cruel summer in Dallas soon.. so i would have plenty of time to dork with free UV light.

And less costumed one, from other day - i kept getting weird vertical overexposed line on negatives, in same place, so we just were trying to get where damn thing coming from - process or i actually had bad batch of film.
Turns out to be film.

If nothing else, it makes Ben/Sergei's stuff look good and it's practice for my girls and me. Still got a ways to go before I'm happy, but I'll keep refining. My girls can handle 1/30 second exposures for posing with the mortensen basic lighting with metal reflector, but not 1/2 second as done with the weaker and bigger illuminating softbox modeling light here. The other photo where her hands were in a better position was motion blurred!

1/2s on tmy2 8x10, 16" B&L Sigmar portrait lens.
